LYE Town are expecting a tough game on Saturday as they return to league action away at Shepshed Dynamo.

Town will be hoping to continue their good form after sweeping aside Pershore Town 3-0 in the Worcestershire Senior Cup on Tuesday night, but face a challenging trip to Loughborough at the weekend (3pm).

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, manager Martin Thomas, who was missing from the sideline on Tuesday, said: “It's going to be really tough. We know all about Shepshed and they will make it very difficult for us.

“They’ve always been a Southern League team for as long as I’ve known, so they’ve come down the divisions but still have some top players.

“But we’ve been playing very well so it should be a great game.

“I wasn’t there on Tuesday night myself, but from what I’ve heard it was an easy win and we played some really good stuff.

“We’ve had some compliments from Pershore who said we were one of the best footballing sides they’ve had down there for years, which is always something nice to hear from the opposition.”

Town go into Saturday’s game missing a few key men as Ben Jeavons, Dan Jones and Adam Meacham are all suspended, while Kalum Evitts will not return from his injury until after Christmas.

However, Thomas did add that he was hoping to bring “one or two” new faces to the club in the next week.

Lye face another away trip next Tuesday evening (7.45pm) when they head to Heath Hayes in the JW Hunt Cup.
