THERE were double celebrations in the Beacon Sunday Football League this week as two member clubs secured places in the last four of their respective Birmingham County FA cup competitions.

Premier outfit Dynamo Dudley were spot on as they edged out Wolverhampton Sunday League side AFC Bentley in a tense Sunday Vase penalty shootout.

Also claiming their semi-final ticket were unbeaten Division One side Pensnett Panthers in the Sunday Amateur Cup as they held off late pressure from visiting Leamington Hibernian to win another thrilling tie.

Dynamo trailed twice in their battle against AFC Bentley but struck back with goals from Leon Naylor in the first half and Steve Jones, with 15 minutes to go, to send the clash to penalties.

And Dynamo showed the way when it came to spot kicks, running out 4-1 winners, with 'keeper Roy Carter playing his part with two excellent saves. Dynamo now visit Solihull league side Real Norton in the semi finals on March 13.

In the other tie, Wolverhampton Casuals travel to Coventry League outfit Wallace FC.

The Panthers, who are still chasing silverware on four fronts this season, roared in to a 3-0 interval lead against visiting Leamington Hibernian. But after the interval, Leamington struck back, converting one penalty and a second goal from a corner.

However, the Panthers kept their opponents at bay and added a late fourth goal to secure a memorable 4-2 triumph. The goal heroes were Steve Jeavons (2), Tom Woodhall and Jack Handley.

“They threw everything at us, but we produced an impressive performance and kept alive our great run,” said delighted Pensnett Panthers official Paul Handley. But as yet they do not know their last-four opponents.

Although three scheduled fixtures were postponed due to waterlogged pitches, as many did get the go-ahead in the Redbox Signmakers Division One including matches involving the top two.

Leaders Springvale Academy visited arch rivals Springvale Cougars and made it 11 wins in 13 to retain a three-point advantage over Sandwell Action, who have a match in hand.

The Academy eased to a 4-0 success as Ryan O’Brien and Shaquille Ologlatere fired doubles.

Sandwell, however, found visiting Bradmore Social a handful and edged home 1-0.

The former missed an early spot-kick, before John McLuskey took over the penalty-taking duties and made sure of the three points for Sandwell with a 70th-minute winner. The two frontrunners are due to meet in the Beacon Cup this weekend.

In the final fixture, Springfield thumped lowly Willenhall Warriors 9-0.
