LUKE Paddock says he is top condition as he prepares to defend his Midland title against Andy Keates tonight.

Walsall fighter Paddock, who trains at Dudley's Priory Park Boxing Club, weighed in yesterday ahead of the Midlands Area Light welterweight clash at Walsall FC’s Banks’s Stadium.

Champion Paddock weighed in at 9st 13lb 6oz whilst challenger Keates tipped the scales at 9st 13lb.

“I couldn’t ask for a better camp,” said Paddock. “I’m on weight, fit, feeling strong and ready to go tomorrow. Andy is a good lad but I’m confident.

“It’s arguably the biggest fight of my pro career to date. He’s coming to take the belt off me but I’m the man to beat; I’m the champion.”

“I can’t wait,” added Keates. “Training has been mint. It will be a good night of boxing.

"I’m confident. I’ll test him and plan to be taking the belt back home with me.”

Standard tickets for Black Country Boxing’s ‘Home Turf’ show on will be available to purchase on the door at the Stadium Suite, Banks’s Stadium, WS1 4SA.

Old Hill lightweight Manny Zaber is also in action as he takes on Tamworth’s Matt Seawright over six rounds.

Ludlow light middleweight Craig Morris completes the card as he steps in with Italy’s Victor Edagha.
