CRADLEY boss Will Pottinger is urging his side to end the season in style with hopes still high for a trophy or two.

Heathens saw their hopes of a third successive league title dashed in the weekend defeat at Rye House.

But they’re in the semi-finals of both the Gold Cup and Knockout Cup which means there’s still plenty to race for.

With tricky National League away meetings at Buxton and Coventry approaching on Sunday and Tuesday respectively, followed by the final home league clash of the season with Rye House at Perry Barr on Wednesday, Pottinger is hoping to see them build up a strong run of form as they prepare for the business end of the season.

Pottinger said: "It's been a tough season for us, and of course we are disappointed to just fall short as far as the title is concerned, but we are still looking to end the season with some silverware.

"We've been unlucky at times, we had Nathan (Greaves) and Mikey (Neale) both get injured at the same time which led to those two defeats against Mildenhall and Birmingham.

"We've been playing catch-up since then, and even though we've given it our best shot we just didn't quite have enough in the end which is frustrating.

"We've still got plenty to play for though, and we are looking forward to trying to win some trophies in the Gold Cup and Knockout Cup.

"Over two legs we feel like we can beat anyone, so hopefully we can put together a good run of form over our last few league meetings so we build up some confidence.

"We'll take it each meeting at a time, the semi-finals in both competitions are going to be tough, but if we can do well in our home meetings at Perry Barr we'll have a great chance of making it to the final where anything can happen.

"It's all still to play for, so we are looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully finishing on a high."

Heathens are represented by Max Clegg and Ellis Perks at King’s Lynn on Saturday when they race in the National League Pairs Championship.
