STOURBRIDGE Tennis Club's Ladies A Team achieved a magnificent double by becoming champions of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Division One League for both summer and winter seasons.

Club captain Diane Davies said: “We are all very proud of our A team and congratulate Dee Smith for guiding her team to the top once again.

Having completed four successful seasons, team captain Smith has now handed over the role to Charlotte Lines.

A host of talented youngsters are now at the club. Ellie Griffiths is ranked number five nationally in under 16s and number five in under 18s.

Abbie Jade Riley is ranked 33 in the UK for under 18s and has a place on the prestigious Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme funded by the LTA and government. Her younger sister Chloe finished number two in the under 14s.

Also, Amy Basford performed well in the County Cup and was runner up in the club championships, losing to Dee Smith.

Katie Eaton returned to Stourbridge A Team after successfully completing her scholarship in the USA and Smith was part of the winning England Team competing in the annual Four Nations Senior Championships held earlier this year in Scotland.
