AN OLDBURY school is set to welcome a new head, it has been announced.

Peter Mckinniss will join Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy from an academy in London, where as deputy headteacher, he led on raising standards, behaviour, curriculum and teaching and learning.

He is taking on the role of Head of School and said he is looking forward to the opportunity to lead the thriving academy.

The school on Lower City Road, which celebrated a Good Ofsted rating last November, said the move is designed to strengthen its leadership team.

George Salter Academy in West Bromwich, which is also part of the Ormiston Academies Trust, will be led by Rupi Bellingham who will be made permanent Head of School after working at the academy for seven years.

The academies will continue to be supported by current Senior Principal, Adrian Price who has overseen both schools for several years.

Adrian will work closely with both Peter and Rupi to ensure a smooth transition.

Peter Mckinniss, incoming Head of School at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy, said: “I am thrilled to be leading such a wonderful academy through the next exciting stage of its journey.

"I was taken with Ormiston’s values, which fully align with my own and I was pleased to see these values very much in practice at OSCA.

“My core commitment as Head of School will be continuing to make academic success and aspiration an expectation at the academy by ensuring every child is being challenged to succeed to the best of their abilities.”

Adrian Price, Senior Principal at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy and George Salter Academy, said: “I am delighted that Peter and Rupi will be leading Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy and George Salter Academy respectively as the new Head of Schools, and I am confident they will both do a fantastic job.
