BIG-hearted staff and students at a Rowley Regis school geared up to raise more than £1,300 with a sponsored charity challenge.
They broke their own targets, static cycling the equivalent distance of 312 air miles from Birmingham to Paris in just over four hours.
Members of the community also joined in with the fundraiser at St Michael’s CE High School.
School engagement manager Kerry Whitehouse said it was a “fabulous day” – smashing the fundraising target by £300 and completing the challenge in just over half the time set.
“They kept going and did another 150 miles to boost the fundraising,” she said.
Those taking part also included disabled students using specially adapted equipment and there was a surprise summer visit from Santa.
The money raised will go to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital STAR appeal.
Mrs Whitehouse added: "We are so lucky to have so many staff and students who are passionate about helping others. Birmingham Children's Hospital is a very special place and we have worked with the charity for a number of years raising thousands of pounds.”
Chelsea Cartwright, St Michael's cycles team captain, added: "I have had a great time helping to organise the event. “
